Be Easy Kuchaberu is a 5.5% saison from Be Easy Brewing, based in Hirosaki, in Aomori, Japan. It’s part of their bottled and draft line up, though its availibility at the time of writing is unknown. Be Easy Kuchaberu takes its name from the Tsuguru dialect word “kuchaberu” from the Japanese phrase “oshaberi suru” that means “talking” with the implication that this beer will get the flow of conversation going.

Be Easy Kuchaberu Aroma and Taste

Be Easy Kuchaberu poured out a hazy golden orange colour with a very thin white head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the top of the glass, and a slight slick on top. The aroma was pure saison, with a phenolic yeasty aroma coming through that smelt like peaches, though once Be Easy Kuchaberu had warmed up, that aroma became berry-like with then a mixing of the two aromas. The malt brought a light dusting of bready notes to the show; though not overpowering nor cloying.

The body was phenolic punch to the tastebuds – nice but a tad overwhelming as I was not expecting something so yeast forward. Once the taste buds had gotten used to it, the dryness of the body helped the flavours to mix together, with a light berry flavour coming through, though it was faint. The malts were once again present, with a light bready taste to the beer, and they lingered through into the aftertaste. The phenols did get stronger though as Be Easy Kuchaberu warmed up, so it’s probably better to drink the beer when it is slightly chilled.

Be Easy Kuchaberu The Bottom Line

Be Easy Kuchaberu is a phenol forward beer, so be warned.
