Two Rabbits Pacific IPA is a 7% West Coast IPA from Two Rabbits Brewing Company, based in Omihachiman, in Shiga, Japan. It’s part of their “ocean” series of beers, and can be found in both cans and on draught across Japan. As the name suggests, Two Rabbits Pacific IPA uses hops from countries located on the Pacific Rim, with hops coming from North America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The hops used in this beer include Centennial, Mosaic, Sorachi Ace, Ella, and Nelson Sauvin.
Two Rabbits Pacific IPA Aroma and Taste
Do not adjust your device – this is how Two Rabbits Pacific IPA poured out and I had not mixed up the beers or the labels on the cans. Two Rabbits Pacific IPA was a hazy dark golden orange colour with a medium amount of white head that clung to the side of the glass, leaving some spotty white spodges on the side. However, where Two Rabbits Pacific IPA disappointed in the appearance, it made up for it in the aroma was a luscious bouquet of aromas going on – pineapple, mango, orange, lemon, passion fruit, grapefruit, and then a touch of dankness. Two Rabbits Pacific IPA smelt amazing! There was a touch of malt sweetness to the beer but it didn’t detract from the hoppy aromas.
The body didn’t taste like a West Coast IPA either with the punchy bitterness associated with that style missing from the beer. The flavour profile resembled something more like a New England IPA with all of the glorious fruity goodness going on evoking a sense of a tropical fruit juice. While there was an underlying level of bitterness to Two Rabbits Pacific IPA, it palled in comparison to the fruity pineapple, mango et al flavours going on. Those same flavours lingered on into the aftertaste, with the beer being rather refreshing too.
Two Rabbits Pacific IPA The Bottom Line
Two Rabbits Pacific IPA is not a good West Coast IPA; however, it is a fantastic Mountain IPA.
