Devilcraft Dawn of Madness is a 7% NE-IPA from Devilcraft Brewery, based in Tokyo, Japan. Itā€™s part of their bottled and draught lineup, though its availability at the time of writing is unknown. Devilcraft Dawn of Madness is a collaborative effort with guitarist Keri Kelli, and the beer uses imported NZ hops, though which ones is unknown at the time of writing.

Devilcraft Dawn of Madness Aroma and Taste

Devilcraft Dawn of Madness poured out a hazy golden orange colour with a plump white head on top that clung to the side of the glass throughout drinking. The aroma coming off of Devilcraft Dawn of Madness was a pungent tropical one with pineapple and mango being the strongest aromas, followed up with some lemon and a subtle tart grapefruit aroma too. The beer had the faintest of mineral aromas to it though when it had warmed up, but it was nose-destroying nor off putting. The malts were a light sweet aroma, with some pilsner breadiness to them and a hint of caramel too.

The body to Devilcraft Dawn of Madness was thick and juicy (I hate using that word, I really do!) with lashings of tropical flavours coming along. Pineapple and mango were the two most distinct flavours, like in the nose, but this time around, the citrus nuance of lemon and grapefruit were more pronounced. Devilcraft Dawn of Madness wasnā€™t that bitter ā€“ there was a hint of bitterness, but nothing that is going to screw your face up. The mineral component, while present, thankfully wasnā€™t overpowering or draining on the palate. The fruitiness lingered into the aftertaste, leaving me wanting more.

Devilcraft Dawn of Madness The Bottom Line

Devilcraft Dawn of Madness is a solid, well made NE-IPA that I would happily drink more of.
