Vertere Nestotus is a 7.5% Belgian blonde from Vertere, based in Oku-tama, in Tokyo, Japan. It’s part of their draft and canned lineup, though its availability is unknown at the time of writing. Vertere Nestotus is brewed using Pilsner and Gw2Row with imported Aurora and Tettnanger hops.

Vertere Nestotus Aroma and Taste

Vertere Nestotus poured out a hazy golden orange colour with a massive amount of frothy white head on top, that stuck around for ages, but didn’t leave any residue on the side of the glass. There was a lot of aroma coming off Vertere Nestotus, with hints of banana and phenols, and some earthy, noble hoppy aroma cutting through. The malts brought a light, bready sweetness to the beer, but Vertere Nestotus was mostly about the yeasty phenols coming through.

Those same phenols were present in the body, with a light banana and pear-like quality to them, and the body of Vertere Nestotus was quite dry, yet a little bit on the sweet side. There wasn’t any discernible hoppy bitterness to the beer, but there was a light earthy, noble hop backbone once the beer had warmed up a bit. The alcohol, while “high” at 7.5%, stayed firmly in the background with only a faint hint of the heat coming through once Vertere Nestotus had warmed up. The phenolic banana and pear quality was present in the aftertaste, leaving a slightly sticky residue on the palate.

Vertere Nestotus The Bottom Line

Vertere Nestotus is more like a ramped up weizen, and I liked it.
