Two Rabbits Christmas Ale is an 8% spiced beer from Two Rabbits Brewing Company, based in Omihachiman, in Shiga, Japan. It’s part of their 2020 Winter seasonal lineup and can be found in both cans and on tap. Two Rabbits Christmas Ale is brewed with dried fruits, Japanese sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Two Rabbits Christmas Ale Aroma and Taste

Two Rabbits Christmas Ale poured out a deep reddish brown colour with a slight brownish off-white head on top that was fluffy and voluminous. The aroma smelt like a slightly warmed up Christmas pudding – with dried fruits, a healthy dash of nutmeg and cinnamon, rounded off with some light caramel and burnt toffee aromas too. The spice aromas were not overpowering, and were balanced nicely with one another, and only got better as Two Rabbits Christmas Ale warmed up. Those wanting some hop aromas though would be left disappointed though as there was nothing to note – heck, I don’t know if any hops had been used in the making of this beer.

The body was warming, and spicy, in a flavourful way, not in a heat way. The nutmeg had a slightly numbing quality to it, with the cinnamon bringing a prickly flavour to strike through the nutmeg. The sweetness from the sugar was more caramel than burnt, with the body having enough to support the flavours. Once Two Rabbits Christmas Ale had warmed up, the alcohol brought a warming sensation to the beer, and brought all the flavours together well. The beer finished off leaving a warming, spicy flavour on the palate, and a happy smile on my face.
