Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA is an 9% double IPA from Two Rabbits Brewing Company, based in Omihachiman, in Shiga, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found both on tap and in cans. Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA follows it smaller sibling, the Two Rabbits Mountain Punch IPA, but has everything ramped up to make this beer a double IPA.

Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA Aroma and Taste

Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA poured out a hazy orange amber colour with a relative thick amount of white bubbles that clung to the side of the glass throughout drinking. The aroma was a much stronger version of the Two Rabbits Mountain Punch IPA, with lots of mango, pineapple, and lemon coming through, tempered against a stronger malt back bone too. However, unlike the smaller version, the balance of malt and hop aromas was nicer and smoother on the nose in comparison. Once Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA had warmed up, there was faint nose of alcohol too, though it was smoother than expected.

There was a kick to the bitterness from Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA, more than I had expected after drinking Two Rabbits Rabbit Punch Mountain IPA a day before. The hop bitterness faded fast to the tropical flavours of mango and pineapple, and a tart lemon twist of citrusness to boot. The malt caramel lingered from start to finish, cutting through the hoppy flavours nicely, with just a hint of alcohol booziness. Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA finished off with a sticky bitterness of hops that was pleasant on the palate.

Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA The Bottom Line

Two Rabbits Mountain Kick DIPA is really nice but I suspect two would be too much as it’s so easy to drink.
