Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale is a 5.5% English Pale Ale from Woodmill Brewery Kyoto, based in Kyoto, Japan. It’s part of their all-year round range and can be found in both bottles and on tap. Not much is known about Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale though as neither the brewery homepage nor sites list the ingredients of the beer at the time of writing.

Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale Aroma and Taste

Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale poured out a deep golden amber colour with a large amount of frothy white head, though that faded fast to a few bubbles around the edge of the glass. Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale has an earthy, fruity hop aroma to it, with a distinct amount of caramel and nutty aroma coming through as well. I didn’t notice any off aromas – which I’m glad of considering the previous effort I had from Woodmill Brewery Kyoto didn’t end well.

There was a light bitterness to the initial taste of Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale – nothing too in-your-face nor abrasive – but it was there. The earthy hoppy aroma also came along with some honey-like qualities to it – perhaps some East Kent Goldings had been used in making the beer – and the smooth caramel flavours from the malts paired off with it nicely. Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale had a lingering caramel, nutty flavour to it in the aftertaste but the best thing was no off flavours were noticed.

Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale The Bottom Line

Woodmill Kyoto Pale Ale is a, surprisingly, well-made English pale ale. I would like to try it on tap and compare it some time in the future.
