Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer The Bottom Line

Calling Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer a bar may be a slight stretch but they do offer up some good craft beer as well as very good selection of freshly made burgers that means I will definitely be going back there if I am in the area. And that’s the catch – I wouldn’t traipse all the way there though if I am not in the area. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and does lend itself to sitting down for a burger followed up by a fair number of craft beers if you have the time. The whole place is non-smoking and there is no table charge either. The prices also include tax and the menus have just enough English on them to get you by. I didn’t notice any WiFi in the area though.

Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer The Full Review

In search of some burger places that offer up some craft beer for a forthcoming guide, Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer popped up on our Instagram feed when someone we follow posted a picture of some loaded waffle fries with pulled pork on top. That was enough to convince me to get to Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer, but in reality, the burgers were also pulling us closer. Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer opened up in November 2015, and since then, they have become highly rated for their burgers, even ranking in Tabelog’s “Top 100 burger places” from 2017 to the present.

Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer is located between Yotsuya an Yotsuya-Sanchome stations and is less than a 10 minute walk from either station. It’s located in a small residential area with plenty of families and office workers popping in for a quick bite to eat and some beers too. Inside, there’s space for about 25 people, with 20 people at tables along the water and another 5 or so at the front wall counter. The whole place is non-smoking throughout the day and there is no table charge either – both a bonus in our books. However, even though there is a WiFi detectable in the bar, the account is not open for the public it seems as no passwords were provided nor were any offered up.

There are six taps of beer on at Cruz Burgers & Craft Beer with a split between domestic and imported beers. The beers come in two sizes: S size (250ml) from ¥715 and L size (420ml) from ¥900. The menus included the price of beer with and without tax – the latter not seeming to mean much really as it’s better to have the price on the menu. There is also a small selection of bottled beers on too, but the prices are obviously inflated so it’s probably better to stick to the taps instead. There was also no happy hour nor any offer of a beer flight either. The big downside to the beer that I had was the glass was dirty – just look at those bubbles. The second beer seemed to be cleaner so it’s a good idea to ask for a clean glass if you do go.

Though I wanted the loaded fries, not getting them is an excuse to go back again. I wanted a hamburger and the best way to check the quality is to go for the basics. The menus have just enough English on them so you can get away with ordering a burger, and the prices seemed to be standard for Tokyo. The burgers are freshly made so the standard was ordered and went down well with the beers I had. The only downside is that there simply wasn’t enough chips really to justify saying chips were included. A shame but guessing they are keeping the chips for the loaded fries. There are some vegetarian options on the menu for those wondering but it’s mostly limited to salads and sides.
