Vertere Casimiroa is a 7.5% NE-IPA from Vertere, based in Oku-tama, in Tokyo, Japan. It’s part of their regular lineup and can be found in cans and on tap at various places in Japan. It’s brewed using Maris Otter, Golden Promise, Oats, Wheat, Carapils, and the mandatory lactose as part of its grain bill, and then hopped using imported Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado.

Vertere Casimiroa Aroma and Taste

Vertere Casimiroa poured out a dark golden honey-like colour with a fluffy plump white head on top that was so sticky it left residue marks down the side of the glass. The aroma coming off it was a massive tropical fruity one with peaches and pineapples, followed up with some mango and a light-citrus dusting of lemons. There was a subtle hint of oat creaminess to Vertere Casimiroa, with the lactose also helping to accentuate the creaminess of the oats. Thankfully, there was no chloride-like aroma to it as sometimes brewers add calcium chloride to help the hop aromas come through.

There was no overpowering initial bitterness to Vertere Casimiroa, with it being quite restrained and smooth instead. The flavours were punchy yet smooth – lashings of peaches, pineapples, mango, and a subtle lemon undertone to it as well. It’s important to note that this can was fresh – less than a week old from being in the tanks to being canned, so I can imagine some of these flavours will fade with time. The lingering fruitiness to Vertere Casimiroa carried on into the aftertaste, leaving a sticky peach and pineapple flavour on the palate.
