TDM 1874 Breakfast Stout Aroma and Taste

TDM 1874 Breakfast Stout poured out a pitch black colour with a thin off-white / tan coloured head on top, made up of small bubbles. The head clung to the side of the glass throughout drinking, leaving some tan streaks down the side. The beer itself had a rich coffee and chocolate aroma to it, with some roasted barley and creamy notes to it. The coffee was more chocolatey than bitter – sometimes an issue when breweries grind up their beans too much, releasing too much acid.

The body of TDM 1874 Breakfast Stout was much thicker than I had expected – usually stouts at around this percentage are thinner but TDM 1874 Breakfast Stout was robust, thick, and creamy. The coffee flavours were rich and chocolatey, with some nuttiness coming through once it had warmed up a bit. The silky smooth body – helped by the relatively low carbonation – and this was really smooth meant TDM 1874 Breakfast Stout would have been easy to drink much quicker but this is a beer for enjoying.
