Uchu Sensei is a 6% NE-IPA from Uchu Brewing, based in Hokuto city, in Yamanashi, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition range and can be found in both bottles and on tap. Uchu Sensei is brewed with “secret hops” and also oats, along with lactose, which is becoming more and more popular it seems.

Uchu Sensei・宇宙せんせいUchu Sensei Aroma and Taste

Uchu Sensei poured out a hazy dark golden orange colour with a plump white head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the side of the glass. It had a strong fruity aroma of mango, pineapple, orange, and lemon, as well as a sweet milky nose to it as well. There was a subtle wheat-like quality to Uchu Sensei that became stronger as it warmed up.

The initial flavour of Uchu Sensei was fruity – along the same lines as the nose – with some hints of bitterness coming through too. Uchu Sensei seemed to have a slightly sticky body to it too – not unpleasant but it was weird. The beer finished off with a lingering fruitiness that became more pronounced as it warmed up.

Uchu Sensei The Bottom Line

With all these NE-IPAs coming from Uchu Brewing, it would be nice to try something different from them to be honest.
