Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout is a 5% dry stout from Aoi Brewing based in Shizuoka, Japan. Like many of their other beers, Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout started out life as part of their draft range and found its way into bottles in late 2016. Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout is brewed with Maris Otter Ale Malt, Crystal Malt, Black Malt, Roasted Barley, Flaked Barley, and Wheat Malt along with Challenger and Kent Golding hops.

Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout Aroma and Taste

Excuse the glass – I couldn’t find the “proper” stout glass so had to use this one from Hawaii and the Village Bottle Shop (well worth a visit if you’re in the Honolulu area!) – but Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout poured out a pitch black colour with a slight tan head that was really really lively. Not quite Brewmaster Oatmeal Stout lively, but it did have me worried that it was going to overflow. It had a big roasted cocoa nose with hints of chocolate, and just a smidgen of coffee in there as well for good measure.

Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout was your prototypical stout from start to finish with lashings of cocoa and coffee coming in thick and fast, along with a roasted edge to the beer that produced an ever-so-slight acrid flavour to it. The creamy texture to it though was a tad peculiar as I was expecting something much drier and reminded me of milk stouts I’ve had in the past. Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout ended up with the roasted coffee beans lingering on the palate for a bit before fading fast.

Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout The Bottom Line

Aoi Garage Revolution Dry Stout isn’t a good example of a dry stout but it its a good stout.
