Craft Beer Market Kichijoji One Paragraph Review

If you’re in the area and looking for cheap craft beer, then Craft Beer Market Kichijoji should be on your radar. It doesn’t differ much from the other branches of the Craft Beer Market chain though. The lure of Chinese food and craft beer is very tempting, especially with the inclusion tax in the price. Get there before 3pm and there isn’t a table charge, though arrive after and it’s ¥324 on tap of your bill. The bar is completely non-smoking and there is some Wi-Fi in the area from the department stores in the vicinity too. The barman spoke a lot of English when we drank and even thrust English menus upon us without us asking for it.

Craft Beer Market Kichijoji Full Review

The second bar on our crawl around Kichijoji was Craft Beer Market Kichijoji – which is the seventh branch opened so far in the range of Craft Beer Markets across Tokyo. Without wanting to retread too much about the previous bars, the theme for the food at this branch is Chinese. The store is located less than one minute from JR Kichijoji station on the north exit, along the alleyway of arches as you walk towards Tokyo.

The inside of Craft Beer Market Kichijoji is decked out in concrete, giving it a minimalist style, along with empty beer bottles dotted around the upper shelves of the bar. There are about 15 tables in the bar, along with space for 14 at kitchen and bar counter combined, along with 4 tables for standing by the front door. The whole bar is non-smoking though the most confusing thing is the table charge. If you come in for lunch, which is served until 3pm, there is no table charge. However, after 3pm and if you order beer, there is a table charge of ¥324 per person. It’s written on the menu in tiny written most furiating as well.

There are about 30 taps on at Craft Beer Market Kichijoji. If you don’t know or have never been to a Craft Beer Market branch then a quick recap: it’s a chain of craft beer bars across Tokyo. Simple as that. The selection of craft beer is always great, as most of them have 20+ taps with prices from ¥480 for a glass to ¥770 for a pint. All prices include tax so you know what you are getting for your money. There wasn’t any option of a beer flight or tasting menu though, something that would have been a nice addition to the day.

The food at Craft Beer Market Kichijoji is primarily Chinese based, with ramen and gyoza featuring on the menu but you’ll be pleased to hear that there are other dishes such as the BeerTengoku favourite of chips, and also non-Chinese dishes, such as sausages and pizza. The food menu was also in English as our over-enthusiastic waiter kept trying to tell us – something that was very welcoming but really, once was enough.
