Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar One Paragraph Review

If you’re in the area and looking for some craft beer and a chilled out atmosphere, then Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar is worth a visit but the lack of tax in the prices means you may get a surprise at the end of the drinking and eating. However, there isn’t any surprise table charge at the end. The selection of craft beer though is decent for somewhere outside of the main areas and may surprise you too. It’s also a non-smoking place too so you can relax and enjoy the food. For those tourists in the area looking to upload their pictures from their tour around Kamakura, you might be disappointed as there wasn’t any wifi available.

Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar Full Review

We don’t often go to Kamakura – it’s not like there are many reasons to go there besides Blue Room Craft Beer and Pizza or Sagamiya Liquor Store. I guess if you like trekking out to bars that may or may not be open, then there is always Magnetico (I swear I will get down there one day when it is open) but when Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar appeared on our Twitter feed from a Japanese user, then it gave us a good reason to get down to Kamakura.

Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar is located about three minutes from JR Kamakura station, though it can also be reached from the Enoden line too if you’re coming from the Enoshima or Fujisawa direction. It opened in November 2015 and specialises in craft beer and something called pintxos, or pincho for those looking the word. These are small Spanish snacks that are commonly eaten in bars in northern Spain though they differ from tapas by pierced with a toothpick or cocktail stick. It’s a small bar with enough space for about 15 seating and perhaps 5 standing though it

There are seven taps craft beer at Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar with most of them being dedicated to Japanese craft beer. On the day we went, five of the taps were domestic craft beer and two were imports from Nagano Trading beer. The beers come in two sizes medium (240ml) at ¥650 or large (473ml) at ¥1,000 though neither price included tax, so you have to add 8% to that price. There is also a four beer tasting set for ¥1,400 which gets you four 200ml glasses of any four beers on the menu. The beers came with a reasonable amount of head but the staff kindly reduced it when asked. There is also a lunch beer available for ¥450 but you can only buy when you get some food.

Soup, salad, baguette, and a couple of pinxtos. Also a lunch beer for 450yen.

I went for the lunch time menu as I was hoping to get to Magnetico for some beer as well afterwards but the food at Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar was delicious. The stretch of land from the Shonan area right down to the Miura peninsula is well-known for growing a wide range of delicious vegetables and they were on show here too. I plumped for the local salad and it came with a soup, what appeared to be a fried stick of baguette and also two different kinds of pintxos. The dinner menu has the pintxos at the bar where you can go and pick them yourself though at ¥250 per piece, be careful as it ends up getting like sushi – one here, one there and before you know it, you have about 20 plates on your table.

How to Get to Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar

The best way to get to Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar is to take the JR Yokosuka line to Kamakura station and then leave via the east exit. Walk around the bus station towards Starbucks on the right and you should see a small road that leads away from the bus station. The bar is about a one minute walk from there.

Thanks for the info. looks like a decent option. good line up choice and decent enough prices. Especially the 4 beer taster set.
I do think magnetico has a much better and cooler vibe but its smoking friendly and also a long walk from anything.
“There are seven taps craft beer at Xrosk Shonan Pintxos Bar with most of them being dedicated to Japanese craft beer bar.” – you mean craft beer?

Let’s not talk about going to Magnetico. Been there three times and managed to drink there 0 times.

Well, a reason I sometimes use to go to a distant craft beer bar (in Japan) is that I’ll be able to photograph the trains and stations on the infrequently used (by visitors) line. [c.v. Machida]

There are plenty of places around it seems with craft beer bars and trains – a link perhaps to another hobby of the owners?
