DevilCraft Hamamatsucho One Paragraph Review

DevilCraft Hamamatsucho is well-worth a visit for some Japanese craft beer and pizza; however, come between the happy hours if you want to save some cash. For those worried about the language barriers, the menus are written in both English and Japanese and the majority of the staff speak English and Japanese too. and if you get to meet any of the owners, then they are up for a few beers and a chat. It’s completely non-smoking inside and the bill includes tax and no table charge is used so no surprises there.

Devilcraft Hamamatsucho Inside

DevilCraft Hamamatsucho Full Review

DevilCraft Hamamatsucho has the tagline “come for the beer, stay for the pizza”. For me, it’s the other way around. DevilCraft Hamamatsucho has a wide range of beers on tap, from West Coast USA and Japanese craft beers, but the imported beers can be bought for cheaper elsewhere. We were there for the Japanese craft beers. And some pizza. I like, no, love pizza, but the call of craft beer gets me going even more now.

DevilCraft Hamamatsucho is located about a five-minute walk from JR Hamamatsucho station if you know where you are going. Last time we went there, a “friend” got us lost although we coming from the nearest metro station. DevilCraft Hamamatsucho is not a difficult place to find, as long as you have a nose for pizza and craft beer, you can smell it out. It’s fairly light and breezy, especially so if you have to sit “outside” underneath the added area.

The range of beers on tap varies from day-to-day, so it’s best to check the DevilCraft Hamamatsucho homepage for the list here. It’s a pay at the end place so we had to be careful as beers are not cheap by no means. Out of 20 taps, only eight were Japanese craft beer on the day, with the rest being imported. We were paying between ¥1000-¥1200 for the large, about 450ml size, and ¥600-¥800 for the small, about 250ml size. We just missed out on the happy hour, but on weekdays from 17.00-18.00 and at weekends and holidays from 15.00-17.00, all drinks ¥100 off. Not bad.

The food. Well it’s deep dish pizza and it is delicious. No two ways about it but the large is enough to feed a family for a week and then some. The appetisers at DevilCraft Hamamatsucho are good, in particular, the artichoke and spinach dip. The prices do vary, as do the styles of pizza, though if you are coming to DevilCraft Hamamatsucho for the pizza, then go full pizza and get the meatzza deep dish.

DevilCraft Hamamatsucho does not add any table charge to the bill, nor are there any smoking areas. Moreover, tax is also included in the bill to so there were no surprises at the end. If there were, then we were too drunk to realise what was happening and too stuffed to move. Then came dessert…
