Hitachino Nest Pale Ale by Kiuchi Brewery

Hitachino Nest Pale Ale is Kiuchi Brewery’s attempt at brewing a pale ale along the lines of an old English style. It is heavily influenced by the British style and also contains hops and malts that are usually found in British beers, such as Kent Golding and Cascade hops, along with Maris Otter malt.

There is a head on it. Not much but you shouldn’t be getting one with an English pale ale.

Hitachino Nest Pale Ale Aroma and Taste

This varnish-brown pale ale pours smooth with little head and a very light nose. I actually snorted the beer by accident trying to get a whiff of this one. The scent and flavour are both extremely malty, sweet with a hoppy bitterness behind it that becomes more obvious the longer you drink. If you’re planning on trying this along with a few other beers, I’d recommend putting it near the end of the list as it’s something of a palate killer. Not to disparage you, though, dear reader, as it’s a fine, malty, sweet brew.

Hitachino Nest Pale Ale One Line Review

Hitachino Pale Ale is a one-trick malty-beer pony, but it does that one trick well.

Where to Buy Hitachino Nest Pale Ale

Hitachino Nest Pale Ale Second Opinion

Perhaps Joe and I had different bottles but I found the nose on Hitachino Nest Pale Ale to be full of malt and grassy without the need for me to snort the beer. While the potency of the nose was different the body was pretty much on a par. The malty sweetness overpowers the caramel flavour and even the aftertaste is dominated by the malt. Not Kiuchi’s best beer but still worth drinking.
