The Lower Right Ebina The Bottom Line

If you’re in the Ebina area for some shopping, or happen to want some cheap craft beer, then it’s hard to beat The Lower Right Ebina on price, just like the Daimon location. The staff might not want to appear helpful or knowledgeable about what is on tap or what the beers taste like, though. Outside of happy hour, it’s hard to recommend The Lower Right Ebina over other places in the area. They do allow smoking only in set places at The Lower Right Ebina, and some of the menus are in English. Of course there is the happy hour, the longest we’ve come across, and they also offer up beer flights too. I didn’t notice any table charge on the price but the prices do not include tax, so add that on at the end.

The Lower Right Ebina Inside

The Lower Right Ebina The Full Review

The Lower Right Ebina is the second location of The Lower Right chain of bars, with this location opening in November 2017. I came across it purely by chance as I was waiting for Joe before our interview with Ebina Beer. The area around Ebina station – both the Odakyu/Sotetsu side as well as the JR side – has undergone a massive development project and has changed drastically since 2015, with new shopping malls, promenades, and shops.

(Oddly enough when I asked what was on tap the staff member I spoke to told me he didn’t know- is it a secret only paying customers are allowed to know?!)

The Lower Right Ebina is located in between the JR station and the Odakyu/Sotetsu station, up on the third floor of what has some spectacular views over the Tanzawa ridge of mountains. There is space inside for about 40 people – all seated, with about 5 seats at the counter. The smoking area appeared to be out back, with the non-smoking at the front part of the bar though there isn’t any outside drinking on the narrow pathway. Most importantly, there isn’t any table charge anywhere in the bar.

The Ebina location doesn’t vary too much from the Daimon branch with the same length of happy hour and also prices for food being nigh-on identical. The main difference is that the tap list is comparatively smaller than the Daimon branch, with medium (270ml) from ¥590 and large (450ml) from ¥910. There is also a beer tasting flight for ¥930 that includes three 120ml glasses of any beer on the menu. What’s even better is from 11:30 ~ 19:00 on weekdays and 15:00 – 19:00 at the weekend and on national holidays, all large beers are ¥600. Prices don’t include tax, so you need to add on another 8%. The menus are predominantly in Japanese, with just the name of the beers in English, though the bar staff did speak some English without prompting when I asked them a question.

The Lower Right Ebina Food 1The food is very much based around meat and fried food – with of course chips – though there was a meagre choice of vegetarian options for those looking for that.
