Minoh Blooming IPA by Minoh Beer

Minoh Blooming IPA is a 6% Belgian IPA from Minoh Beer, based in Osaka, Japan. It’s part of their seasonal lineup and can be found in both bottles and on tap across Japan. It’s brewed using five different kinds of American hops and uses Belgian yeast during fermentation. At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether Minoh Blooming IPA is a one-off brew or will continue to be sold seasonally.

Minoh Blooming IPA Aroma and Taste

Minoh Blooming IPA poured out a hazy straw golden colour with a plump white head on top. The head didn’t last long and collapsed into a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass, leaving sticky white lacing down the edges. There was a big Belgian yeast aroma to it, as well as some floral and citrus aromas coming off too. Minoh Blooming IPA had a nice balance in the nose and came as bit of a surprise really as Minoh aren’t known for these kinds of beers in bottles.

The body to Minoh Blooming IPA had your typical American IPA bitterness to it, with a distinct dry lemony finish too it. Then the Belgian yeast funk kicks in, with a slight phenolic bite to it that lingers, but doesn’t overstay its welcome. It finished off with the citrus flavours lingering on the palate before fading away.

Minoh Blooming IPA The Bottom Line

Minoh Blooming IPA is, surprise surprise, a decent new seasonal from Minoh Beer that I’d like to see more of.
