DevilCraft Gotanda The Bottom Line

If you’ve been to either the Kanda branch or Hamamatsucho branch of DevilCraft, then you know what you’re getting – a great selection of craft beer with very tasty food at usual Tokyo prices. The interior of this branch follows the others and with anywhere between ten to twenty taps of craft beer, there is bound to be something you will like. All prices include tax, there is no table charge, and it’s completely non-smoking inside. Moreover, the menus and staff are bilingual, so there’s no problems there either.

DevilCraft Gotanda Full Review

After the opening of the Kanda branch in 2012 and Hamamatsucho one in 2013, followed by the brewery in 2015, DevilCraft had been quiet with regards to a new branch of their (always) busy chain. Rumours were going round about Yokohama, another one in Tokyo, or perhaps further afield to satiate the Kansai crowd. Suddenly, Gotanda was touted as a location and before you knew it, the construction sprang into action to get it ready for opening on 4th July.

DevilCraft Gotanda is located less than two minutes from JR Gotanda station, on the 9f floor of the Seijitsu building on the south side of the station. With it being so high up, the sign can be seen very easily from the station, so there is no chance of getting lost going there. Inside, there is space for about 10 people at the bar, 40 people seated and a small standing area for those unfortunate to have not booked a table or just wanting a quick beer before going home. The whole bar is non-smoking and there isn’t a table charge either.

There are anywhere between ten and twenty taps of craft beer on at DevilCraft Gotanda, with usually five or six dedicated to their own beers, and the remainder being a split being domestic craft beer and imported craft beer from the US. The amount varies but you can generally find a list of beers on-tap on their webpage. Prices are between ¥1000-¥1200 for the large size, a US pint size of 470ml, and ¥600-¥800 for the small, a half US-pint about 250ml size. There is a happy hour on weekdays from 17.00-18.00 and at weekends and holidays from 15.00-17.00, all drinks ¥100 off. Prices include tax too.

All the menus, both for food and drink, are in Japanese and in English, along with the staff being conversant in both languages, including drunkenness too. Without wanting to rewrite what with said before about the pizza: “The food. Well it’s deep dish pizza and it is delicious. No two ways about it but the large is enough to feed a family for a week and then some. The appetisers at DevilCraft Gotanda are good, in particular, the artichoke and spinach dip. The prices do vary, as do the styles of pizza, though if you are coming to DevilCraft Hamamatsucho for the pizza, then go full pizza and get the meatzza deep dish.”
