Jingle Beer & Dining in Yokohama, Kanagawa

Jingle Beer & Dining The Bottom Line

While I wanted to like Jingle Beer & Dining, the fact that it is fully smoking and a table charge of ¥432 per person means it’s an overall thumbs down for this place. While the beer list is to be commended as there were some different beers on there, what was supposed to be a cheap few beers and pizza ended up costing too much to justify, what with Craftsman Yokohama offering something similar for cheaper. However, if you don’t mind paying random extra charges and don’t mind smoke in your face, then go ahead and drink here instead. The menus were all in Japanese and there was no Wifi either.

Smoking galore

Jingle Beer & Dining The Full Review

Jingle Beer & Dining opened in 2014 in a part of Yokohama that is more associated with cheap izakayas and love hotels – though its presence was more than welcome. Located about 10 minutes from Yokohama station, it’s located at the busy Okano junction in the basement downstairs. More often than not, Jingle Beer & Dining will update their Facebook page with the daily tap list and someone holding up a glass of beer overlooking the same junction.

The inside of the bar is quite cosy and intimate, especially at the counter. There are about 8 seats at the counter, with some tables dotted around the back walls, along with a small room for private groups. Unfortunately, the bar is fully smoking as I walked in, I was greeted by a large waft of smoke. On top of that, there is a table charge, of ¥432 per person though the pork we got in return was tasty.  Before we had even ordered a beer, we had spent almost ¥1,000. This was going to be one expensive drinking session in here.

There are nine taps on at Jingle Beer & Dining; though one is dedicated to Suntory Premium malts, so you can come here with your non-craft beer drinking friends. There is also usually one or two imported beers on as well, with imports coming from the USA, UK, or other countries. The beers come in two sizes: small (~200ml) for ¥580 so ¥627 with tax or medium (~350ml) for ¥980, and this is ¥1059 with tax added on. Not the cheapest beers in Yokohama, again considering Craftsman Yokohama is down the road. There wasn’t any beer flights on the menu either.

The food is perhaps the only saving grace at Jingle Beer & Dining – though like the beer menu, don’t forget to think about tax as well. The chips most definitely passed the BeerTengoku test as they were nice and chunky though burning hot. However, it was the pizza that kept us there for longer – a yuzu prawn pizza with aubergine on top. Very nice and could easily have eaten more – if it wasn’t for the smoke.
